CHAIRS: THE HIT IMPROVISED PLAY COMES TO
VICTORY GARDENS FOR THE HOLIDAYS
Something different is hitting mainstream Chicago theater this holiday season: CarniKid Productions is re-mounting their critically acclaimed original improvised play, Chairs, Thursday and Saturday nights at The Victory Gardens Downstairs Studio Theater from December 17th through January 21st.
An international phenomenon at festivals around the world and a well-renowned presence in the Chicago improv scene, Chairs is a fully improvised one-act play that challenges the boundaries between improvisation and theater. In a town famous for its strong improv and regional theater, Chairs seeks to integrate these two heretofore, separate disciplines at the venerable and regional Tony-Award winning Victory Gardens Theater. Veteran theatergoers and Chicago newcomers searching for something unique this holiday season, can look no further than the always funny, always innovative and fully improvised Chairs, in a version especially themed toward holiday cheer, jeers, family bonding and general dysfunction.
Chairs has traveled all over the world, playing to sold-out crowds and rave reviews at the Edinburgh and Dublin Fringe Festivals, as well as festivals and well-known venues in New York, DC, Seattle, Milwaukee, and Toronto. The ensemble is thrilled to return to its Chicago roots where it was selected as The Reader’s “Critic’s Choice” in 2003.
Tickets are $15 for the general public, $10 for students, seniors, and Victory Gardens subscribers.
